Identification Requirements

The second hand dealers’ industry is highly regulated. We are bound by legislation in the Pawnbrokers and Second-hand Dealers Act and thus ‘100 points of ID’ is required by law and must consist of:

ONE PIECE OF PRIMARY ID (75 points)

  1. Displays the full name and date of birth of the seller
  2. Contains the signature of the seller
  • Current Passport
  • Valid Drivers Licence
  • Dept of Transport Proof of Age Card

ONE PIECE OF SECONDARY ID (25 points)

  1. Has the current residential address of the seller
  2. Is no more than three months old.
  • A public utility invoice which has a record of the person’s name and address
  • A Council or Shire rates invoice which has a record of the person’s name and address
  • A telephone utility invoice which has a record of the person’s name and address
  • A financial body statement which has a record of the person’s name and address
  • The person’s name and address appears in an Australian electoral roll
  • A insurance policy invoice which has the person’s name and address
  • A rental tenancy agreement which has the person’s name and address
